Anna E Miles
Receiving a BA from Oberlin College as a Japanese Language major, I thought I would go into hospitality. Frustrated that Health Code prevented my wearing nail polish, I cold-called my favorite nail polish brand to ask for an internship. Since then, I’ve grown to master product development and creative aspects of producing and marketing new products in the color cosmetic and skincare world. My love of both the service industry and beauty are unified in my pursuit of a Nail Technician License, completed with Honors from the Christine Valmy school in 2020.
My dedication to all things beauty has at times been unconventional; as a young teen I preferred to experiment with my own hair, nail, and makeup styles rather than engage in traditional after-school frivolities. As I’ve grown, this love has become my career, and my intrepid spirit is truly ignited by the challenge of creating products that do not yet exist.
My approach to creativity is to find parallels and patterns among trends and permute them into product for meaningful impact. I draw inspiration from art history, music and popular culture. I derive inspiration from integrating and extrapolating both Eastern and Western beauty - wellness regimens, while weighing the balance between scientific and spiritual accolades. I am motivated by the goal of making products that ultimately improve someones day.
I am a constant scholar and I always welcome an opportunity to learn about new ingredients, materials, applications and techniques in the beauty and wellness spaces, particularly as they pertain to improving environmental practices. My natural curiosity and analytical thinking drive my creativity and I revel in the elastic nature of these constantly evolving industries.
